Environmental Commitment

Betterprint manufactures to very high standards with every job following strict guidelines from a Quality and Environmental stance. We operate under internationally recognised standards - ISO 9001 for Quality and ISO 14001 for the Environment. These standards form part of our day-to-day operating procedures and are externally audited on an annual basis. We were one of the first UK print organisations to adopt ISO 9001 in 1994 (then known as BS5750) and so have many years experience delivering our quality goals.

The environment is at the heart of all our process policies and as part of ISO 14001, we only print on recognised environmentally friendly materials. Betterprint has a policy of continual improvement measured against pre set objectives. A main part of our commitment to the Environment is to print only on FSC accredited materials. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is a third party organisation who offer membership with strict policy implementation and annual external audits.

FSC members comprise of a diverse group of representatives from environmental and social groups, the timber trade, paper industry, forestry profession, indigenous people's organisation and forest production certification groups from around the world. It is their job to ensure good forest management. Protecting wildlife habitat and respecting the rights of local communities. FSC Chain of Custody is the process that verifies the source of timber.

Certification involves inspection and auditing of the land from which the timber and pulp originate and tracking it through all aspects of production until it reaches the end user. Only organisations who have obtained third party accreditation are able to use the FSC logos on printed products. For a printed product to carry the logo, it must be printed on FSC paper and have a fully auditable FSC supply chain.
